Chalice of the Overlord

Tremble in fear, mortals. The dark one has reclaimed his unholy cup, and shall pour out his wrath upon thee.

Translation: Carrie got me this sweet-ass cup that I can drown my sorrows in whilst you gang up on me.

Chili of the Void

Chili and cornbread shall accompany non-MTG / non-Descent gaming tomorrow. Award winning elk and chorizo chili, to be exact. The cornbread is the wildcard in this equation.

Games shall be determined by popular vote, at one or two tables as required by attendance.

Drawer of Descention +2

Got all the stuff organized physically. Still need to get the player organization completed.

I'm going to work up a spreadsheet, and request information from interested parties:

Name
Commitment Level (1-3) Friday (3 is high)
Beginning Hour (Friday)
Ending Hour (Friday)
Commitment level (1-3) Saturday
Beginning Hour (Saturday)
Ending Hour (Saturday)
Play Preference (1 shot, mini campaign, standard, extended)
Earliest Start Date
Possible Overlord?

Based on responses, I'll try and match groups together, probably one short play and one longer.

We will be out of town this Fri-sat for various things, but will try to get something together for the weekend after.

Descent... Rising?

We have the football.

And by 'football', of course, I mean the Descent Duffel and accompanying box of boxes and containery whatchajiggers and such. Yay!

As soon as we can find a home for most of it in the closet, we'll start drafting spots for the 4 bi-weekly sessions we'll set up (2 Fri/2 Sat). We may start the extreme 32 session with one group, keep the other casual with epic play or shorter 3-8 map adventures. Depends on who is in for how long.

Squee!

EMN

(Emergency Magic Night)

It was determined that we needed to play Magic tomorrow night, by a majority of the CC Guild.

Hoagie pizzas to the rescue! Sides/salads will be entertain(ed/ing).

This concludes this broadcast of the EMN network.

Game Night!

YeAh! Game night! We're starting at 7pm! ...at the football field.

It's Lauren's first football game in the Pep Band, so we'll be there. All are welcome to attend, but we will not likely have any other festivities that night. I have an event in Nampa the following morning that will run into early evening.

We'll keep you up to date on future nights.

Sometimes They Come Back

Tuckers are back in town, it's almost like they're back from the dead!

Sooo... Zombies! We need to play zombie games.

Food selections TBA, but somebody (Jesse) needs to bring the zombies.

Kitties!

Wetzels are bringing kittens over to play tomorrow... of the exploding variety.

Sounds fun, and disgusting. Must be a Friday. Disclaimer: Up to 5 players, the game is fairly appropriate. Add any more, the expansion comes into play, and it is unfit for anyone to play. Measures must be taken to insulate the youth from this game, so that they will help build a brighter future.

Heading out to the store to gather supplies for the Bacon Explosions that will be the primary dish. Wetzels will provide a potato side, and we'll snag some Kit-Kats for dessert/snacks. Any other kitty or explodey themed foods are encouraged. (I thought about Sno-balls, but that is a bit of a stretch).

Festivities begin at 6, as usual. We'll be calling it a bit earlier than usual, as we have more than a full day Saturday, Art in the Park Nampa, Parma Motor-Vu, etc.

Independent Day

Yes, I said independent. Independence Day is Saturday, but you're on your own Friday, too.

Buck up, Descent is almost upon us.

June 26th: Training Day

Descent training for the upcoming MEGA CAMPAIGN. Training will be in the Descent Wing of the Wetzel Estate. Contact us for directions if you need them. Times TBD, the Overlord will update specifics in the comments section below.

June 20th

No, it's not a Friday. Good observation.

Due to sports scheduling, we'll be starting at 2pm on Saturday.

Not sure what we're playing, or what we're eating, but there are groanings of zombie withdrawal.

Prodigal Friday

Welcoming James Dymoke back into the fold this week. James has been over a time or two in the past, mostly to play MTG with Jeremy and the rest of the gang.

Well, he's done with that! Like some of our other members, he's moved on from the thing that brought us all together, and has diversified his interests until they collided with us again. We don't judge here. That's okay.

James plans on attending this Friday, so we'll let him pick the games. He'll be commenting shortly.
We'll figure out the food, and update that in the comments too.

Manly Friday.

No gaming this Friday due to previous engagement, Man Food Night. We'll resume next week.

Homework for this weekend:

Decide which day, Friday or Saturday, will work best for you personally, and what date you would be able to start a Descent Mega-Campaign. E-mail this information to me at cchollaway@live.com. I will be compiling a super-technical database, parsing the results, reconfragulating the jagenhouser, and submitting the final analysis to Mr. Wetzel. So do it!

Yeahhhhh....

Heading to the city this Friday for a bachelor party, taking some of the crew with me.

This is in advance of missing next week's Friday so we can leave early Saturday to go to a wedding.

I don't know if anyone else wants to get something going offsite.

Seems like a good time to coil to spring into an overwhelmingly immense Descent campaign.

May 7th

In observance of Mother's day, game night will not be held this Friday at the Hollaway house.

The Descent campaign draws nigh. We should probably start assembling Friday and Saturday groups and getting schedule issues worked out where that is concerned.

May 1st

In honor of the upcoming movie, we will be playing Marvel deckbuilders, with a side of Magic.

Still torn between having pulled pork sandwiches, or build your own heroes, in keeping with the theme.

April 24th

A twist of magic...

Or... Magic, and Italian Twists courtesy of Nog.

Yeah. That sounds better.

April 17th

In their insolence, mortals have forgotten the old ones, the slumbering forces that once commanded fear and respect in equal measure. The madness and destruction that have been sealed away for untold ages have begun to spill back into the world.

We must stop it. We must stop them. They must not be allowed to awaken.

Sooooo... we're playing Elder Sign this Friday. And eating spaghetti, because, tentacle.

Sides and dessert welcome as always.

Tuesday, April 7, 2015

April 10th

The zombies made us sad last week. We need some uplifting, four-color cinematic non-survival-horror villain-bashing romping.

Marvel and DC deckbuilders this week, normal time, 6pm until whenever.

Food will involve some sort of bacon-wrapped asparagus, asparagus compliments of Galen Lee from the Payette County Farm Bureau Federation. Thinking about doing chili and dogs or burgers for the main dish. Sides are welcome as always.

Geoscience IT Ninja Extraordinaire James Nelson may resurface in the coming weeks to help us in whatever mischief we may be tangled up in, so be prepared for that.

Tuesday, March 31, 2015

April 3rd

It's going to be a good Friday this week... The Goodest! That can mean only two things.

Zombies, and deviled eggs.

We'll do a ham, and the eggs. Any other appropriately (ir)reverent side dishes are welcome.

Zombie games will be supplied mainly by the Wetzels.

Wednesday, March 25, 2015

March 27th

Epic play.

No, it's not a staged production of Homer's Oddessy, but it should be nearly as sweet.

Descent... descends... upon us this Friday at the usual time. One or two quick sessions of Epic play depending on how quickly the first one goes. Overlord to be announced.

Marinated oriental beef and stir fried vegetables are on the menu. Sides or desserts are welcome.

Wednesday, March 18, 2015

March 20th

A new miasma settles over the land, the stench of smoke and sulfur permeates everything. The cries of the innocent are drowned out by the screeching of... dragons. The lands of Tarkir beckon, and intrepid Planeswalkers gather to descend on a land ripe for conquest.

In other words, it's pre-release time! We need to practice for Saturday!

Mystical, magical mayhem will rule the evening, tempered only by the south of the bordery goodness that is enchiladas. Bring your decks, but be prepared to draft cubes to hone your limited pool skills.

Tuesday, March 10, 2015

March 13th

Sharpen your swords, don your shields, and gird your loins. Prepare thyself, for the darkness descends, and the kingdom must be brought back into the light.

In other words, we're playing Shadows over Camelot on Friday at 6.

And we're eating steak, because KNIGHTS EAT STEAK, that's why.

Side dishes would be appreciated.

Sorry for yelling.

March 6th

Descent was awesome. It was not the length of session that one would wish for on a weekly basis, and we got our butts kicked, but it was still awesome.

Rumors abound of a campaign of ridiculous proportions, which is intriguing, to say the least. We shall discuss it further when the rumors are substantiated.

This Friday, let us get back to our roots. The core foundation of the group is the MTG players, and the expansion players were drawn in by the other deck builders. Let there be both!

There should be food, too.

That is all.

Wednesday, February 25, 2015

February 28th

That's right. I said the 28th.
But that's not a Friday! You exclaim.

Dang right, it's not a Friday. It's Descent day. And for Descent day, we need to be to bed early the night before so we can be prepared to wreak havoc on whatever adventures the Overlord and his nefarious expansions have in store for us.

Sorry, Jesse. There is still some 'not Kool-Aid' in the fridge to dull the pain.

And there will be burgers. Oh yes, there will be burgers. Side salads and such would be acceptable bring-alongs, as would desserty/snackish finger-foods that are dungeon-crawler friendly.

Event time is set for Noon until whenever. Main table reserved for Descent, but attendance and character rotation may lend themselves to a secondary table of gaming goodness.

February 20th

FNG has been an unstoppable freight train the last few months, but it's time to put the brakes on for a week, in the name of love. We're skipping out on the gang this Valentine's Day weekend, our schedules are exhausting between now and then, and for most of the following week. We will likely not leave the house all weekend without serious motivation or natural disasters.

Expect to get your game back on the 20th. In preparation for movie day the 21st, let's try to focus on Fantasy/Sci-Fi to set the mood for watching Seventh Son and Jupiter Ascending. We might want to keep the food to light snacking, those of us going to the movies are going to want to save room for MFT.

This should give us plenty of time to comment with game/food ideas before game day!

Saturday, January 31, 2015

February 6th

Zombie overload!

We've been playing quite a few complex setup board games the last few FNG sessions. Not that they're less fun, but the setup time can detract from the enjoyment in a limited time session.

I propose two tables of deckbuilders, and I guess some preparation of pork loin.

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

January 30th

Jesse should have all the expansions in place for a few epic rounds of 'Last Night on Earth' as the primary game this week. Friday at 6:00 P.M. as usual.

Carrie has requested taco salad, so, yum. Desserty stuff would be sweet if someone wants to bring.

Plans for a Descent Saturday with yet even more expansions courtesy of Jesse need firming up. We're booked up through the 21st of next month, but are fairly flexible after that. Jesse suggested a 'noon to whenever' (so probably 12+ hours) session, not for the faint of heart, but only the most dedicated of gamers. Party limits are 4 heroes and the Overlord, so seating will be somewhat limited. Character sharing/tagteam may be a viable option if attendance is high.

New FNG Blog.

Here it is! The new portal for all your FNG in the 208 needs.

Friday, January 23rd, 6:00 P.M., Hollaway's.

This week's featured game will be... Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game.
Jesse and Skye are supplying the gameage, and Jesse suggests watching this to prepare for the festivities. I watched it and three of the play episodes, looks like quite a fun addition to the lineup.

Reuben and Stacie are bringing the Cheezy Potatoes, and Carrie and I will be baking Malibu Chicken.

Also, Prerelease attendees, please have a 60 card MTG deck made exclusively from your event buy-ins and winnings, Lauren wants to smoosh you with her dragons.
